Taking time to see
what is already there

About Petra

I paint small, everyday moments, often seen from above. My work moves between abstraction and recognition, where images slowly emerge rather than being planned.

Colour plays an important role in my work. I am interested in how it can shift what we see, and how attention, light and small changes can turn something ordinary into something else.

I don’t aim for perfection. I enjoy small imperfections and what I call beautiful oops, where what happens along the way often matters more than the idea I started with.

In recent work, I have been exploring oil painting more, working on both paper and canvas. Without planning to, the images often become more recognisable than I expected, something that only really started to happen when I began working with oil paint.

I take my time while working, looking closely, adjusting and waiting, allowing the image to form at its own pace.

This collection is a reminder that dreams, like art, can start small and grow beyond our wildest expectations.
‘A Flock of Daydreams’ is my first step in dreaming big.
